
Safespace Mentoring and Alternative
Curriculum Programme
is a programme to help young people cope with circumstances
that they are moving through and help them develop as people. It includes:

One to one time with a mentor or small group activities.
Mentors accompany the young person(s), and as a
neutral friend in order to encourage personal
growth, and to assist in learning new skills. Additionally
mentors can accompany the young person
to work placements / interviews and appointments
as appropriate to offer encouragement and support.
Life Skills
While undertaking activities the mentor will aid
development and life skills that the young person
needs to develop. This could include, meeting the
needs of each individual, handling money, communication,
planning, independent living (i.e cooking),
or planning a journey etc.
Academic Support / Functional Key Skills

Mentors will offer support with numeracy and literacy built into the activities and challenges to support academic
input delivered else where.
Accreditation
Youth Achievement Awards (ASDAN)
Youth Achievement Awards recognise and accredits young people’s achievement through youth work. Gives an
opportunity to work together with young people and create new personal challenges that reflect their ability.
Three levels: Bronze (60 hours), Silver (90 hours), Gold (120 hours).
Improving Own Learning and Performance OCN Level 1
Accredited by the Open College Network, this unit enables the young person to gather evidence while they are doing activities.

1to1 mentoring for "complex cases"
£40+VAT per hour
1to1 mentoring for "non-complex cases"
£30+VAT per hour
Long term placements / Retained places for short term placements
£ available on request
Group activities
£90 per person per day*
