Safespace Mentoring and Alternative Curriculum Programme is a programme to help young people cope with circumstances that they are moving through and help them develop as people. It includes:

One to one time with a mentor or small group activities.

Mentors accompany the young person(s), and as a neutral friend in order to encourage personal growth, and to assist in learning new skills. Additionally
mentors can accompany the young person to work placements / interviews and appointments as appropriate to offer encouragement and support.

Life Skills

While undertaking activities the mentor will aid development and life skills that the young person needs to develop. This could include, meeting the needs of each individual, handling money, communication, planning, independent living (i.e cooking), or planning a journey etc.

Academic Support / Functional Key Skills

Mentors will offer support with numeracy and literacy built into the activities and challenges to support academic
input delivered else where.
