Gift Aid - What is it?

By making a donation to your chosen project using Gift Aid, we can reclaim the basic rate tax you paid on the money you are giving from the Inland Revenue.

What are the benefits to Energize?

The benefit for us is that the value of your donation will be increased by 28% if you use Gift Aid. That means for every £1 you donate, we will actually receive £1.28, extra money which can be put to good use in our work. And if you are a higher rate tax payer, you can claim the difference between the higher rate of tax and the basic rate in your annual Self Assessment return, so you can afford to give even more!

How does it Work?

You can make payments for pretty much any amount by cheque, or standing order and your donation will qualify for Gift Aid if you:

1) Pay at least as much tax (income or capital gains at any rate) as the amount to be reclaimed on your gifts in the financial year in which you make them.
(tax credits on dividend income count towards the tax paid)
2) Make a simple declaration, using the Cheque / Standing Order form, that you wish your gift to be treated as a Gift Aid donation.

There are no catches and it costs you nothing and if you are a 40% taxpayer it’s worth considering how much more you could afford to give without it costing you more
