FALCONRY 4 SUCCESS

NEWS 11.2008:

LANTRA Beginner's Falconry Accreditation now available for alternative curriculum in:

BEDS (Shuttleworth)

CAMBS (St. Ives)

CALL 01234 272101 for more details

We are now offering falconry within the Angling4Success programme, as follows:

  1. Stage 1: 5 x 1 Day (1/2 day falconry + 1/2 day fishing/photography = 1 day/week for 5 weeks) The 5 x 1/2 day falconry learning counts as halfway towards the LANTRA qualification.
  2. Stage 2: 5 x 1 Day (1/2 day falconry + 1/2 day fishing/photography = 1 day/week for 5 weeks) This follow-on stage will be offered to those who, during Stage 1, showed dedication, a willingness to learn, an enthusiasm for birds of prey and the right attitude to develop further. This will culminate in the achievement of the LANTRA Falconry Qualification. There is also the flexibility for students to complete this qualification after the completion of the 10  weeks if need be.

This exciting opportunity offers young people a chance to get up close and personal with some of nature's most impressive predators and build a relationship, based on mutual trust. Not only is there the opportunity to achieve a qualification in Falconry. The Birds of Prey Centre in Shuttleworth may also offer young people, who demonstrate enthusiasm, dedication, an affinity with the birds and a desire to follow on this study, a chance to volunteer at the centre. There, they can get hands on experience to back up their qualification and vastly expand their knowledge of the subject.

During the course, all participants will be accompanied by an Energize mentor, who will provide moral and educational support, with the aim of helping individuals experience personal growth and to maximise the learning potential of this outdoor classroom.

Cameras will also be provided so thatstudents can create their own photographic portfolio of the learning experience, digitally enhance their photos and publish this on the Energize Photos website.

Practicalities: Energize provides an experienced youth worker & mentor, Mini-bus transport (where  geographically possible), cameras, Lap-tops with Photoshop Elements, all-conditions clothing where required. Students need only bring a packed lunch.

WE HAVE VERY LIMITED SPACES ON STAGE 1 OF THIS COURSE AND ARE OFFERING THE COURSE TO 5 STUDENTS for 5 WEEKS, DURING TERM TIME. PLEASE CALL TERRY ON 01234 272101 URGENTLY TO SECURE A PLACE FOR YOUR STUDENTS.
